SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Police arrested a 19-year-old man early Saturday after he allegedly struck a victim on the head with a blunt object.
Brian P. Misztal, of South Windsor, was taken into custody at 12:57 a.m. on Jan. 3, 2026.
Officers responded to 272 Pierce Road for reports of an assault.
Police determined Misztal struck the victim on the top of the head with a blunt object, causing injury.
The victim was treated and released from the hospital a short while later.
Misztal was located in the basement of the residence by Canine Mason and taken into custody.
He was processed and released on a $1,000 surety bond.
He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026, at 9 a.m.
The victim later returned to police to report he believed the item he was struck with was a firearm.
That information, along with a report of a domestic violence incident that occurred between Misztal and a second victim, prompted an investigation that is still active and ongoing with further criminal charges against Misztal pending.
Police responded back to 272 Pierce Road on Sunday at 6:16 p.m. for reports of an emotionally disturbed person.
Misztal was threatening self-harm.
The Capital Region Emergency Services Team responded to assist and located Misztal without incident.
He was transported to the hospital for an evaluation.
