Man arrested on assault charges in Cooperstown

COOPERSTOWN, NY — A North Carolina man was arrested on Christmas Day following a domestic incident that left a victim with serious burn and other injuries.

Jimmy J. Tatum, 44, of Rockingham, North Carolina, was charged with second-degree assault, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and second-degree harassment.

Otsego County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence in the village for a report of a physical domestic incident.

Following an investigation, Tatum was arrested and processed.

He was turned over to Otsego County Corrections pending centralized arraignment in Otsego Town Court.
