Home improvement fraud reported in Plainfield

PLAINFIELD, VT — Vermont State Police are investigating a home improvement fraud case involving an 82-year-old woman.

Troopers received a report of possible fraud on Nov. 30 at 2:57 p.m.

The investigation revealed that Melinda Vieux, 82, of Plainfield, paid Jesse Reeder approximately $9,000 for a home renovation project.

Reeder, 28, of Berlin, started the project but failed to complete the work or refund the money, according to police.

Reeder was issued a citation on Jan. 3, 2026, to appear in Washington County Superior Court, Criminal Division, on a charge of home improvement fraud.
