Police seek help identifying package theft suspect in Newark

NEWARK, NJ — Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect who stole a package containing a laptop from a residence.

The theft occurred at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Dec. 20 in the 300 block of Hunterdon Street.

Surveillance video captured a male suspect removing the package from in front of an apartment.

The suspect fled in a burgundy Toyota SUV.

Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. is urging anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).

All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
