Man arrested on drug charge in Putnam Valley

PUTNAM VALLEY, NY — A traffic stop on the Taconic State Parkway led to a drug arrest on Dec. 27.

Ryan M. Knapp, 37, of Ossining, was arrested after a deputy observed his gray Acura traveling with improper license plates at approximately 2:11 p.m., according to Putnam County Sheriff Brian Hess.

The license plates were registered to a white Chevrolet Tahoe, authorities said.

During the investigation, Knapp was found to be in possession of a controlled substance later identified as heroin, according to the sheriff’s office.

Knapp was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a Class A misdemeanor; aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, a misdemeanor; and various vehicle and traffic law offenses, including an improper license plate violation.

He was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and issued an appearance ticket due to New York State bail reform.

Knapp is scheduled to appear in Putnam Valley Court at a later date.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.
