NORWALK, CT — A man was arrested on a breach of peace charge following a disturbance at a nail salon on Dec. 30.
Norwalk Police patrol officers were dispatched to Bling Bling Nail Salon at 10 Main Street on a report of an unwanted guest at approximately 9 a.m.
When officers arrived, there was no active disturbance.
A male at the scene reported that a female family friend had been at the salon earlier that morning and was allegedly the subject of racial insults.
Norwalk Police detectives assumed the investigation based on the allegation of a possible hate incident.
Based on statements from the parties involved and a witness, a dispute arose over services rendered at the nail salon.
The female stated that during an argument with a male nail technician, he made disparaging racial comments toward her.
The argument escalated and the female struck the male on the side of the head with her hand.
No injuries were reported.
Hai Bin Zu, 28, of Norwalk, was charged with breach of peace.
He was released on a written promise to appear.
The investigation is ongoing in collaboration with the State’s Attorney’s Office of G.A. 1 Stamford.
Police said there is a potential for additional arrests.
