Man killed in crash in Northbridge

NORTHBRIDGE, MA — A 21-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Monday night.

Northbridge police responded to the crash on Main Street at the intersection of North Main Street at approximately 7:20 p.m.

The sole occupant and operator of the vehicle was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

The operator was identified as Zachary Dawe, of Northbridge.

Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling westbound on Main Street at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway and struck a tree.

Alcohol and speed are believed to have been contributing factors in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation by the Northbridge Police Department in conjunction with the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Accident Reconstruction Team, led by Sergeant Jeffrey White.
