MEDFORD, MA — A 63-year-old man has been arrested and charged with dissemination of matter harmful to minors following an investigation into child exploitation.
Hugh McEleney, of Medford, was taken into custody Monday night, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Medford Chief of Police Jack Buckley.
Earlier this month, Medford Police were notified that McEleney had allegedly been identified as part of an ongoing investigation being conducted by a federal task force into child exploitation.
McEleney allegedly communicated with and sent images to an individual he believed to be a juvenile female under 15 years old.
McEleney is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Somerville District Court.
McEleney is currently employed as a firefighter in Medford.
The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by Medford Police and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
