OYSTER BAY, NY — A 20-year-old man died after his vehicle left the roadway and struck a light pole and multiple trees on the Southern State Parkway late Saturday night.
Troopers responded to the eastbound parkway just east of Exit 29 at approximately 11:32 p.m. for a report of a single vehicle collision.
Abraham Toribio, of Merrick, left the roadway for an unknown reason before striking the light pole and multiple trees, according to a preliminary investigation.
The vehicle came to rest on the shoulder.
Toribio was ejected from the vehicle during the collision.
He was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.
Unsafe speed and slippery pavement were contributing factors in the collision.
