FORT FAIRFIELD, ME — Two people were arrested on drug trafficking charges after a burglary investigation led police to a residence where officers discovered fentanyl and a firearm.
The Fort Fairfield Police Department responded to a report of a burglary involving a local contractor’s service truck parked in a driveway on Elm Street at approximately 11 p.m. Friday.
When officers arrived, they learned the suspect had already fled the area.
Officer Isaac Wipperman deployed K9 Titan to track the individual.
K9 Titan followed a scent trail that led officers to a residence on Columbia Avenue, a short distance from the burglary location.
Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence in an effort to locate items stolen from the vehicle.
While executing the warrant, officers discovered illegal drugs and a firearm inside the home.
A second search warrant was then obtained, which led to the discovery of additional controlled substances.
Officers seized evidence consistent with drug trafficking, including approximately 7.8 grams of fentanyl and a handgun.
Timothy Philbrick, 33, of Fort Fairfield, was taken into custody and charged with aggravated trafficking of schedule W drugs, unlawful furnishing of schedule W drugs, unlawful possession of schedule W drugs and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Philbrick’s bail was set at $2,500 cash, and he was transported to the Aroostook County Jail.
Mariah McEwen, 23, of Fort Fairfield, was also arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking of schedule W drugs, unlawful furnishing of schedule W drugs, unlawful possession of schedule W drugs and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
McEwen posted $500 cash bail and was released.
Additional charges related to the motor vehicle burglary are pending.
