NORTH HAVEN, CT — A 14-year-old was arrested Friday after police responded to reports of individuals attempting to enter parked vehicles.
Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Ridge Road at approximately 4 p.m. for a report of several individuals attempting to enter parked vehicles.
The individuals reportedly fled the area after being confronted by a homeowner.
A silver sedan was reported to be associated with the suspects.
While officers were checking the area, a separate call was received regarding a silver sedan that had struck a mailbox and was left unoccupied.
Officers established a perimeter and initiated a K-9 track.
During the investigation, officers determined the vehicle had been reported stolen from the Town of Seymour.
With the assistance of neighborhood residents and K-9 Cyrus, an individual who was hiding under a deck was located and taken into custody.
The individual was identified as a 14-year-old juvenile from New Haven.
The juvenile was transported to police headquarters, processed, and issued a juvenile summons for multiple charges, including theft of a motor vehicle and interfering with an officer.
