PITTSFIELD, ME — The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a residential fire that broke out early in the morning on Dec. 26 at 693 Canaan Road.
The Pittsfield Fire Department arrived to find the home heavily involved in fire and requested assistance from the Office of the State Fire Marshal to determine the origin and cause.
State fire investigators determined the fire originated in the ceiling area of the kitchen.
Based on the information currently available, the fire is not considered suspicious.
Fire investigators must complete additional interviews before making a final determination regarding the cause of the fire.
During the investigation, fire investigators located two deceased dogs in the fire debris.
The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and a neighbor had been attending to the dogs on a daily basis.
The investigation remains ongoing.
