MTA bus crashes into storefront in Yonkers

YONKERS, NY — An MTA bus struck a storefront at the corner of Warburton Avenue and Ashburton Avenue on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Yonkers Police Department.

Officers and firefighters responded to the scene at around 1:15 p.m. after receiving a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a bus.

Two parked, unoccupied vehicles were also struck in the crash.

The bus driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation.

No other injuries were reported.

The Yonkers Fire Department and the Yonkers Department of Housing and Buildings are assessing the structural integrity of the building.

Units will remain on scene until the bus is removed and further assessments can be made.

Warburton Avenue between Ashburton Avenue and Wells Avenue is closed to vehicular traffic until further notice.
