RIPTON, VT — A transient man was cited on a simple assault charge following an incident on Christmas Day.
Vermont State Police troopers from the New Haven Barracks responded to a report of a possible simple assault on Peddler Bridge Road at approximately 6:38 p.m. on Dec. 25.
Through investigation, troopers determined that Timothy Edwards, 38, had intentionally caused fear and attempted to cause pain to James K. Hadd, 67, of Ripton.
Edwards was still on scene when troopers arrived and was taken into custody.
He was transported to the New Haven Barracks for processing.
Edwards was cited to appear at Vermont Superior Court in Addison County Criminal Division on Feb. 23, 2026, at 12:30 p.m.
