LAKEWOOD, NJ — A man was arrested on Christmas Day after allegedly threatening a coworker with a meat cleaver during an argument at a township restaurant, police said.
Officers responded to a report of an assault involving a weapon at approximately 2:35 p.m. on Dec. 25.
The victim told police that a verbal argument with a coworker escalated inside the kitchen area of the business.
During the dispute, the suspect allegedly armed himself with a meat cleaver and threatened the victim, according to police.
The victim was not injured during the incident.
The investigation led to the identification of the suspect as Qing Zheng, of Jackson.
Zheng was located and arrested at his residence and transported to Lakewood Police Headquarters, where he was processed without incident.
Zheng was charged with simple assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and terroristic threats.
He was transported to Ocean County Jail, where he was lodged.
