MIDDLEFIELD, NY — A 38-year-old man faces felony charges after allegedly fashioning makeshift weapons while incarcerated at the Otsego County Jail.
Mark A. Cassaday, of Oneonta, was arrested on Dec. 24 following an investigation by the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office.
Correctional facility staff notified sheriff investigators that an inmate had intentionally damaged an outlet cover and used the broken pieces to create makeshift weapons.
Cassaday was charged with two counts of promoting prison contraband in the first degree and one count of criminal mischief in the fourth degree.
He was processed and returned to the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await centralized arraignment.
The case will be heard in Middlefield Town Court.
