Man armed with shovel subdued after domestic disturbance in Princeton

PRINCETON, MA — A man who allegedly confronted a police officer with a shovel following a domestic disturbance was taken into custody Friday morning.

Princeton Police Officer Dominic Esposito was working alone when he responded to a domestic disturbance on Mason Lane at approximately 8 a.m. Friday.

The individual, who was initially reported to be armed with a knife, came out of the residence toward the officer with a shovel, according to the Princeton Police Department.

Westminster Police arrived on scene shortly after.

Officers deployed Tasers during the encounter, and the individual was ultimately brought under control.

The man was transported to a hospital for evaluation.

Officer Esposito sustained minor injuries during the incident but remains on duty.

The Westminster and Sterling police departments assisted with the response.
