LEICESTER, MA — Police arrested an armed suspect at a Paxton Street residence early Saturday following a shooting in Worcester.
Leicester Police Department officers responded to the home at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 20 after learning the suspect had fled to Leicester following the shooting.
The suspect was armed with a firearm and posed a threat to someone inside the home and responding officers, according to dispatchers monitoring an open 911 line.
Officers from Leicester, Worcester, Spencer and Charlton police departments, along with Massachusetts State Police, established a perimeter around the residence.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Leicester Police detectives executed two search warrants at the home as part of their follow-up investigation.
The suspect was arraigned in East Brookfield District Court on Dec. 22 on charges including assault and battery on a family or household member, strangulation/suffocation, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, unarmed robbery, witness intimidation, two counts of vandalism, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, threatening to commit a crime and evidence tampering.
The suspect was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.
Police withheld the suspect’s identity due to pending domestic violence charges.
