BAYONNE, NJ — The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Bayonne Fire Department are investigating a fatal fire that occurred Tuesday.
At approximately 7:30 a.m., the Bayonne Fire Department was notified of a fire at 537 Avenue A.
Upon arrival, first responders observed smoke coming from a third-floor unit of a multi-story structure.
During suppression activities, firefighters located an unresponsive female within a bedroom.
The victim was later identified as Irene Clark, 82, of Bayonne.
Clark was transported to Hudson Regional Hospital Bayonne, where she was pronounced dead shortly after 9:30 a.m.
Foul play is not suspected at this time.
The matter remains under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Bayonne Fire Department.
