Woman arrested on fraud charges in Waterford

WATERFORD, CT — A Philadelphia woman has been arrested in connection with the fraudulent purchase of more than $7,000 worth of jewelry from a local business.

Candace Johnson-Jefferson, 36, of Philadelphia, was taken into custody on Dec. 18 with the assistance of the Bethel Police Department.

Police said the purchase was made on June 4 using a fraudulent credit card.

The Waterford Police Department Investigative Service Division conducted an investigation and secured an arrest warrant for Johnson-Jefferson.

She was charged with larceny in the third degree and illegal use of a payment card.

Johnson-Jefferson was held on $25,000 bond and later arraigned in court.
