STAMFORD, CT — A traffic stop led to the arrest of a driver on firearm charges Sunday.

A Stamford Police Field Training Officer and a recruit officer conducted a motor vehicle stop of a gray Toyota Corolla on Dec. 21 while on routine patrol.

Officers determined the operator was driving with a suspended out-of-state driver’s license.

The operator was asked to exit the vehicle for officer safety.

During a pat-down, officers located a concealed firearm on the individual.

The firearm, a Ruger LCP .380, was safely secured.

Further investigation confirmed the operator did not possess a valid pistol permit and was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a prior felony conviction.

A search of the vehicle and a K9 search were conducted, with no additional contraband or weapons located.

The firearm was checked, determined not to be stolen, and logged into evidence.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

The operator was taken into custody and charged with multiple motor vehicle and firearm-related offenses.

He was later held on a $250,000 bond.
