NEWARK, NJ — Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who threatened a Lyft driver with a knife on Dec. 13.
The driver stopped at approximately 9:39 p.m. to pick up a female passenger on William Street between Halsey Street and Washington Street.
The woman was with the suspect, who was harassing her as they approached the vehicle.
The driver reported to police that the suspect pulled out a knife, tapped his side mirror, and threatened to slash his tires if he did not leave.
The driver allowed the female and the suspect to enter his vehicle, and the harassment continued while he drove them to Hunterdon Street between Fourteenth and Fifteenth Avenue.
The couple exited the car and entered a building on that street.
