Driver arrested on DUI charge in Salisbury crash

SALISBURY, VT — A two-vehicle crash on Middle Road resulted in one arrest and minor injuries on Dec. 21.

Vermont State Police responded to the collision near the intersection with Columbus Smith Road at approximately 6:49 p.m.

According to police, a 2010 Toyota Corolla traveling north on Middle Road collided with a southbound 2016 Nissan Rogue in the southbound lane.

The Toyota came to rest on the southbound shoulder facing northeast, while the Nissan stopped in the southbound lane facing south.

The operator of the Toyota was identified as Cameron C. Castelli, 22, of Westport, New York.

Troopers observed indicators of impairment while speaking with Castelli, police said.

Castelli was arrested on suspicion of DUI and transported to the New Haven State Police Barracks for processing.

The operator of the Nissan was identified as Mark A. Currier, 38, of Rutland City.

Currier sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported to Porter Medical Center.

Both operators were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Road conditions were dry and weather was clear.

Castelli was released with a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division on Jan. 5, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. to answer to charges of DUI and negligent operation.

The Middlebury Police Department assisted at the scene.
