Woman arrested on fugitive warrant in Westbrook

WESTBROOK, ME — A woman wanted on felony charges in Virginia was arrested without incident after police received notice from authorities in that state.

Westbrook Police were notified on Dec. 17 by a Virginia sheriff’s office that a suspect with an active arrest warrant was residing in the city.

The warrant was for three felony counts of sodomy against a child and was extraditable, according to police.

Officers went to the residence where the suspect was believed to be staying and located her there.

Merveilles Saidi, 33, of Westbrook, was arrested and charged with being a fugitive from justice.

She was transported to the Cumberland County Jail and will be extradited back to Virginia.
