Man dies after stabbing in Kearny

KEARNY, NJ — A man died Saturday evening after being struck by a pointed object in the area of Kearny Avenue and Johnston Avenue.

The Kearny Police Department was notified of an injured male at approximately 6 p.m. Dec. 20.

Responding officers located the victim, who died as a result of his injuries.

A person of interest was quickly identified and barricaded himself inside a home on Kearny Avenue.

Hudson County Regional SWAT responded to negotiate with the person of interest.

In the early morning hours of Dec. 21, while negotiations were ongoing, a fire originated in the home where the individual was barricaded.

The investigation continued through Sunday afternoon after the fire was extinguished.

The male exited the home armed with knives and was taken into custody shortly thereafter.
