NEW HARTFORD, NY — A 21-year-old man faces multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated, after police stopped a pickup truck missing a wheel Friday evening.
New Hartford Police Officers were dispatched to the Commercial Drive area at 8:30 p.m. for a report of a pickup truck being operated while missing one wheel.
Officers located the vehicle and stopped it after a brief pursuit.
While investigating and interviewing the operator, officers detected signs of impairment.
Officers administered standardized field sobriety tests to the driver, identified as Hunter Larsen, of Ava, New York.
Larsen was charged with operating a motor vehicle with inadequate tires, operating a motor vehicle with inadequate brakes, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, unsafe movement of a motor vehicle, and failure to obey a lawful order to stop.
He was also charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08% or higher, and aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .18% or higher.
Larsen was transported to the New Hartford Police Department and processed on the charges.
He was released to a third party and will answer the charges in Town of New Hartford Court at a later date.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
