ESSEX FELLS, NJ — A 24-year-old man was arrested on drug charges following a single-vehicle crash on Dec. 16.
Sgt. Murphy, Sgt. Cohen and Ofc. Barisciano responded to the area of Old Chester Road and Tothill Road at approximately 12:03 p.m. on a report of a motor vehicle crash.
Officers found a vehicle that had crashed through a fence and into a tree on the front lawn of a residence.
The driver, of Point Pleasant, was out of the vehicle and uninjured.
During the investigation, Ofc. Barisciano learned the driver had an active traffic warrant out of Tuckerton.
Ofc. Barisciano placed the driver under arrest.
During a search incident to arrest, Ofc. Barisciano found several wax folds of suspected heroin.
The driver was transported to police headquarters, where a glass pipe was found inside one of his sneakers.
He was issued a summons for careless driving and criminally charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility pending a future court date.
