Washington Township man indicted on forgery charges in Woodbury

WOODBURY, NJ — A Gloucester County Grand Jury has indicted a Washington Township man on four counts of fourth-degree forgery Wednesday.

Richard Bennett faces two counts of forgery in violation of NJSA 2C:21-1a(1) and two counts in violation of NJSA 2C:21-1a(3).

Each count carries a maximum penalty of 18 months in state prison.

According to documents filed in the case, Bennett, who was a sitting Washington Township council member, mailed harassing letters to two members of his local Board of Education in the name of another board member.

Defense counsel is Nicholas J. Yurick of the Law Offices of Andrew N. Yurick.
