Man arrested on drug, weapons charges in East Otto

EAST OTTO, NY — A man was arrested on drug and weapons charges following a parole check and search warrant execution.

Jacob Burdic, of East Otto, was arrested at about 6:17 p.m. Dec. 17 and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree and a violation of parole warrant.

New York State Parole conducted a home visit at Burdic’s residence on Crumb Hill Road.

During the check, parole requested assistance from Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office K9 Nitro, who provided multiple positive indications in the residence.

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Bureau obtained a search warrant.

The search warrant was executed by members of the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force and the Criminal Investigation Bureau.

The search led to the discovery of four unregistered handguns, two illegal long guns, stolen property, a quantity of suspected methamphetamine, scales and packaging.

Burdic was arraigned at the Town of Ellicottville Court, where he was remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail.
