POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A 39-year-old man faces felony drug charges following a raid at a South Hamilton Street apartment building Dec. 10.
Leon V. Allen, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested after Drug Task Force agents executed a search warrant at 40 South Hamilton Street.
The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force began investigating Allen after developing intelligence that he was selling narcotics from an apartment at that address.
Agents conducted controlled purchases of narcotics from Allen during the investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.
The search warrant covered multiple apartments at 40 South Hamilton Street believed to be used for storage, concealment and distribution of narcotics.
Drug Task Force agents, along with the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit and Poughkeepsie SWAT team, seized large quantities of cocaine, drug packaging materials, U.S. currency, digital scales and other items associated with drug distribution.
Allen was charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, a class A-II felony, and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree with intent to sell, a class B felony.
He was arraigned in Poughkeepsie City Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail without bail.
Additional sales charges related to the case are pending against Allen.
