SOUTHEAST, NY — A 43-year-old woman died in a two-vehicle collision on Deans Corner Road on Dec. 16.
Jaclyn L. Hamill, of New York, was pronounced dead at the scene after her 2016 Honda Civic crossed the centerline and struck a commercial moving truck at approximately 7:11 a.m.
The collision occurred in the area of Deans Corner Road and Turk Hill Road.
The two occupants of the moving truck were not injured.
A preliminary investigation indicates the Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Deans Corner Road, approaching Turk Hill Road, when it crossed over the double yellow centerline into the northbound lane while negotiating a curve.
The exact cause of the collision is under investigation.
Deans Corner Road was closed for several hours to allow emergency responders and investigators to process the scene.
The New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit assisted with the investigation.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
