Man arrested on domestic violence charges in Utica

UTICA, NY — Police arrested a man on domestic violence charges following an incident on Dec. 11.

Officers responded to the 800 block of South Street for a report of a domestic-related incident.

A woman told police her ex-boyfriend arrived at her home and aggressively banged on the door.

When she opened the door, the man grabbed her by the throat and threw her around the residence, according to police.

The woman said he did this several times until she was able to fight back and he fled.

Police learned the woman had a valid order of protection against the man.

Officers located the suspect in the South Utica area and took him into custody.

Jonathan Hines, 45, of Utica, was transported to the Utica Police Department.

Hines was charged with criminal contempt in the first degree, criminal obstruction of breathing and harassment in the second degree.
