Four arrested on animal cruelty charges in Bradford

BRADFORD, NY — Four people were arrested on animal cruelty charges after authorities seized 15 animals from a residence on County Route 17.

Steven D. Button, 41, Chance L. Gilbert, 29, April L. Culbertson, 39, and Jasmine J. Randall, 24, were each charged with 11 counts of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals: failure to provide proper sustenance.

Investigators and deputies of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the residence on Dec. 9 due to a report of animal cruelty.

Authorities seized 11 dogs and four cats that were deemed to be in dire need of medical attention.

Culbertson was additionally charged with endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly acting in a manner that would be injurious to the welfare of a person under the age of 17 who was present.

All defendants were released on appearance tickets to return to Bradford Town Court.

All animals were taken by the Finger Lakes SPCA for housing and treatment.
