Firearm and narcotics seized in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, MA — Police seized an illegal firearm and narcotics during a search warrant execution Saturday.

Officers conducted an investigation at 102 State St., #3, where they located a safe belonging to Aurold Januario, 32, of New Bedford.

Patrol Sgt. Roberto Dacunha applied for a search warrant for the safe.

The safe was found to contain a Taurus PT-22 handgun for which Januario had no license.

The safe also contained crack cocaine, oxycodone and amphetamine, among other yet-to-be-identified narcotics.

Januario was also found to possess 11 rounds of ammunition.

Januario was taken into custody by Officer Christopher Cotter.
