Fire damages Masonic hall in Greenville

GREENVILLE, ME — A fire heavily damaged the Greenville Masonic Hall early Monday morning.

The Greenville Fire Department responded to the blaze at 281 Pritham Avenue at approximately 1:07 a.m.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire conditions at the structure.

Mutual aid fire departments assisted in suppressing the fire.

Investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office were called to the scene after the fire was brought under control.

The fire originated in the basement kitchen area of the building, according to investigators.

The extent of fire damage prevented investigators from determining the specific ignition source and cause.

Investigators found no evidence indicating the fire was the result of an intentional act.
