UTICA, NY — A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of his 6-year-old son who was found unresponsive in July.
Fabian Troutman, of Utica, was arrested Monday and charged with criminally negligent homicide.
Police and fire units were dispatched to 1600 Armory Dr. on July 2 for a report of an unresponsive 6-year-old boy.
The child was transported to Wynn Hospital, where he was pronounced dead despite life-saving measures by fire department and emergency department personnel.
An investigation was immediately launched in association with the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office.
The child had visible bruising and injuries caused by an unknown means, police said.
A review of physical, forensic and biological evidence, along with autopsy findings, determined the child died as a result of blunt force injuries.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
Additional charges and additional individuals may be charged in connection with the child’s death, police said.
