Patrol car struck during accident response in Colchester

COLCHESTER, NY — A patrol vehicle was rear-ended Wednesday while two police officers were responding to a motor vehicle accident on State Highway 206 near the Town of Walton line.

The two Colchester police officers were outside their patrol vehicle when another vehicle struck it from behind, according to a department press release.

Both officers jumped out of the roadway to avoid being struck.

No injuries were reported to the officers, a tow truck driver or occupants of the original motor vehicle involved in the initial accident.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
