Man arrested on murder charge in Hamburg

HAMBURG, NY — A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of his mother at a McKinley Parkway residence.

Town of Hamburg Police responded to a welfare check at 5044 McKinley Parkway at approximately 8 a.m. on Dec. 14.

Upon arrival, officers encountered James Jenney, 33, of Hamburg, at the address.

During their investigation, officers discovered Lareta Jenney, 71, of Hamburg, dead inside the residence.

Detectives from the Town of Hamburg Police were dispatched to the scene and conducted an investigation throughout the day, processing the residence.

In collaboration with the Erie County District Attorney’s office, and based on evidence and information gathered during the investigation, police arrested James Jenney for the murder of his mother.

He is being held in the Town of Hamburg Police lock-up facility.

Jenney is expected to be arraigned in Hamburg Town Court on charges of second-degree murder.
