PENN YAN, NY — A 37-year-old man was arrested on theft charges following an investigation into stolen merchandise from a local business.
Russell J. Aliff, of Penn Yan, was taken into custody Dec. 8 after police were notified he had returned to a store where a previous theft had occurred.
Police had been called to investigate a theft that took place Dec. 6.
Officers located Aliff at the business and found him in possession of items he had just stolen, according to the Penn Yan Police Department.
Aliff was transported to the Penn Yan Police Department where he was processed and charged with two counts of petit larceny.
He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
