PROVIDENCE, RI — A man was arrested following a motor vehicle accident on Route 146 on Sunday.
Nelson Moreno Mendes Alves, 43, of Attleboro, Massachusetts, was taken into custody at 5 p.m. Dec. 14.
He was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, first offense; refusal to submit to a chemical test; obstruction of an officer in execution of duty; and a Sixth District Court bench warrant for failure to appear for arraignment on an original DUI charge from the Pawtucket Police Department.
State troopers responded to the accident on Route 146.
Mendes Alves was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and arraigned as a bail violator by the justice of the peace.
He was transported to the Adult Correctional Institutions Men’s Intake Center.
