Man arrested on drug, weapons charges in Sidney

SIDNEY, NY — A South Carolina man was arrested after police responded to a report of a person pointing a firearm at a woman at an apartment complex.

The Sidney Police Department received a 911 call at approximately 4:55 p.m. on Dec. 12 reporting a male subject pointing a firearm at a female at the Circle Drive Apartment Complex.

Officers responded to the scene and located the male subject, taking him into custody without incident.

A search of the residence resulted in the discovery of a large quantity of cocaine and two firearms, including a handgun.

Connor J. Steidle, 21, of Little River, South Carolina, was charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree (intent to sell), a class B felony.

He was also charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree (narcotic), a class B felony.

Additional charges include one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree, a class C felony, and one count of reckless endangerment in the 1st degree, a class D felony.

Steidle faces two counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the 2nd degree, one count of endangering the welfare of a child and three counts of menacing in the 2nd degree, all class A misdemeanors.

He was transported to Delaware County Central Arraignment, where he was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $25,000 bail.

The Sidney Police Department was assisted by the New York State Police.
