PLAINFIELD, NJ — Firefighters from South Plainfield responded to a second alarm structure fire on the 800 block of Central Street on Thursday evening.
Truck 7 from the South Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the scene at 5:15 p.m.
Upon arrival, Plainfield Fire Command requested the Truck 7 crew perform vertical ventilation on the roof.
The crew set up the aerial ladder on the Charlie/Delta side of the structure.
While crews ventilated the building, Truck 7 operated two master streams to knock down the bulk of the fire.
After extinguishing the main fire, the Truck 7 crew assisted with overhaul operations and searched for hidden pockets of fire.
No information was immediately available on injuries or the cause of the fire.
