Stolen firearm, drugs seized during traffic stop in East Windsor

EAST WINDSOR, CT — A traffic stop on Bridge Street Friday night led to the seizure of a stolen firearm and large quantities of cocaine and fentanyl, police said.

Officer Hacia stopped a vehicle for motor vehicle violations when his training led him to suspect further illegal activity, according to the East Windsor Police Department.

The South Windsor Police Department K-9 Unit responded with K-9 Mason, who alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.

A search resulted in the seizure of a stolen firearm, a large quantity of cocaine and fentanyl, and related evidence, police said.

The suspect was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, theft of a firearm, illegal possession of a high-capacity magazine, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and motor vehicle violations.

The suspect is being held on $250,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Hartford Superior Court on Dec. 15.
