Man arrested on murder charge in Brockton

BROCKTON, MA — A man is under arrest, charged in the fatal shooting of a Rockland man, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz and Rockland Police Chief Nicholas P. Zeoli have announced.

Yesterday, investigators sought and obtained an arrest warrant for 34-year-old Kevin Denis.

At 3 p.m., members of the Plymouth County State Police Detective Unit, with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, along with Rockland Police, executed the arrest warrant at 165 Carl Avenue in Brockton.

Denis was taken into custody and was transported to Rockland Police Department where he was booked.

At approximately 9:35 p.m. on Nov. 11, Rockland Police received a 911 call for a report of gunshots heard in the vicinity of 75 Deering Square.

Rockland Police and emergency medical personnel responded and located a 29-year-old male inside of a parked motor vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to South Shore Hospital where he was pronounced dead of his injuries.

He was identified as Darnel Andre, 29, of Rockland.

Rockland Police contacted the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, and an investigation commenced.

As part of the investigation, detectives conducted interviews and individuals reported seeing a thin male dressed in dark clothing flee the scene.

As part of the investigation, MSP enlisted the assistance of the MSP Airwing and a drone, and a ground and air search ensued.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, State Police developed probable cause to charge Denis, and they sought and obtained the arrest warrant.

Denis is scheduled to be arraigned on the murder charge in Hingham District Court on Monday.
