Fatal shooting investigated in Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that left a teenage boy dead Friday evening.

The Jersey City Police Department was notified of an injured male inside an apartment on Rose Avenue shortly after 5:10 p.m.

Responding officers located a male juvenile with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body.

The victim was identified as Al-Jahmir Curry, 16, of Pennsylvania.

He was pronounced deceased just before 5:30 p.m.

The cause and manner of death are pending with the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The circumstances regarding the shooting are actively being investigated by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department.

No arrests have been made at this time.
