RICHLAND, NY — A Syracuse man was arrested Dec. 10 after state police found more than four pounds of cocaine and a loaded handgun during a traffic stop on Interstate 81.
Quonta Q. Albert, 32, of Syracuse, was stopped at approximately 2:08 p.m. for multiple vehicle and traffic law violations, according to New York State Police.
During the investigation, troopers established probable cause to search the vehicle and located a loaded handgun inside, police said.
Albert attempted to resist arrest and flee but troopers gained control and placed him under arrest, police said.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a loaded .45-caliber handgun, multiple knotted plastic bags containing approximately 486.4 grams of cocaine, a plastic bag containing approximately 364.2 grams of crack cocaine, one pressed and packaged kilogram of cocaine weighing approximately 2.2 pounds, and a digital scale and sandwich bags consistent with drug paraphernalia, police said.
Albert was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 1st degree, a class A-1 felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, a class B felony; criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree, a class C felony; criminal possession of a firearm, a class E felony; resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor; obstructing governmental administration, a class A misdemeanor; and criminally using drug paraphernalia in the 2nd degree, a class A misdemeanor.
He was transported to the Oswego County Jail, where he was held pending arraignment.
