LANCASTER, NH — A Northumberland man faces drug charges after police say he threw items into the woods during a traffic incident.
Officers responded to Page Hill Road on Dec. 11 for a report of cars off the road and stuck.
Police made contact with Jon Homer, 60, of Northumberland.
While speaking to Homer, he walked away from officers, who witnessed him throw something into the woods, police said.
Officers called for Lancaster K-9 Barrett to respond and assist with locating the items.
K-9 Barrett arrived with her handler and promptly located a suspected methamphetamine pipe and a small bag containing a crystal-like substance consistent with methamphetamine, according to police.
The substance will be sent to the lab for forensic testing.
Homer was taken into custody without incident and transported to the police department.
He was charged with possession of a controlled drug and falsifying physical evidence by attempting to hide it.
Homer was released on personal recognizance bail with a pending court date in Lancaster District Court.
