Woman charged with grand larceny in DeKalb

DEKALB, NY — New York State Police charged a Troy woman with grand larceny and welfare fraud on Dec. 9.

Malayasia E. Hudson, 30, of Troy, faces charges of grand larceny in the fourth degree – credit card and welfare fraud in the fifth degree.

The charges stem from a fraud complaint reported on April 11 at approximately 9:10 p.m.

An investigation determined that Hudson used the victim’s EBT account to purchase items totaling $458.86.

Hudson was taken into custody by the Rensselaer County Probation Department and turned over to the New York State Police.

She was transported to SP Canton for processing and released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of DeKalb Court at a later date.

The Chief Confidential Investigator for the St. Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office, the Fraud Department, and the Rensselaer County Probation Department assisted with the investigation.
