Vehicle strikes utility pole in Newport Center

NEWPORT CENTER, VT — Vermont State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Vermont Route 105 at approximately 3:24 p.m. Thursday.

Theresa Cassidy, 64, of Richford, was traveling east on Vermont Route 105 when she lost control of her 2021 Buick Enclave while navigating a slight left-hand curve, according to police.

The vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck and broke a utility pole, and came to rest off the road.

Cassidy and a juvenile passenger reported no injuries.

Road conditions at the time included a thin packed layer of snow and ice under cloudy skies.

Vermont Electric Cooperative and Rays Towing responded to assist at the scene.

The vehicle sustained damage to the driver side front end.
