DUNBARTON, NH — The Dunbarton Police Department responded to a residence Wednesday to take a report of a phishing and courier scam in which a victim handed over more than $20,000 in cash.
Police responded at approximately 7 p.m. after a suspect arrived at the victim’s residence to collect the money.
The contact initially started as a PayPal phishing email indicating that the victim owed money to rectify an account issue.
The suspect vehicle, believed to be a newer model white SUV or crossover Acura, was seen on a nearby surveillance camera leaving the area at approximately 6 p.m.
The operator of the vehicle was described as an Asian female.
The case remains under active investigation.
